1. Very good display ~290ppi

Resolution : 

Both Sony Xperia Ray and Sony Xperia U have smaller screen size and the resolution is 480X854 so higher resolution (proportional) and lesser screen size (inversely proportional) helped Sony to achieve mathematically get excellent PPI for both these models which results in sharper display and font. 

Performance : 

Ray has single core whereas U has dual core.

So Ray is good but you may find better options in Xperia series.
